IOM Ukraine´s Protection Coordinator visits the UN City in Copenhagen
On Tuesday, March 28, IOM Ukraine´s Protection Coordinator Chissey Mueller joined us at the UN City in Copenhagen to provide an overview of displacement trends and protection needs in Ukraine.
The presentation focused on three main areas:
- Current trends in displacement and mobility, with a presentation of the latest data from the IOM Global Data Institute, with a focus on the most vulnerable Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and an assessment of repatriation conditions for those who are stranded.
- Pre-existing and war-related protection risks and the responses provided by international organizations engaged in the protection of migrants and refugees, addressing human trafficking and gender-based violence issues amongst others.
- An overview of the achievements of IOM and its partners working in the field.
The event was well attended by different UN agencies based in the UN City who actively participated in a debate at the end of Chissey´s presentation, where she stressed the importance of continued support to vulnerable target groups and the central role of cooperation between agencies operating in Ukraine.
