The Sub-Regional Office for the Nordic countries, covering Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden, is based in the UN City in Copenhagen.
It serves to strengthen collaboration with strategic partners in the Nordic Countries on areas of mutual interest and increase knowledge of IOM’s strategies and work globally.
Migration projects in the Nordics include support to Rights-Based Return Management, Resettlement of Refugees, technical support to Labour Mobility and Migration Management, Climate Change and Migration Data, and Counter-Trafficking Data, among others.
In 2024, the office became a Country Office for Partnership and Advocacy (COPA) and a Country Office with Coordination Function (COCF), leading IOM’s liaison and coordination with strategic partners and donors in the Nordic Countries, reporting to IOM’s Regional Office for Europe and Central Asia in Vienna.
