IOM provides students with the opportunity to learn about IOM's activities, to gain intial work experience, and/or to prepare for a degree dissertation. IOM provides on-the-job training to interns so that both they and the Organization can benefit. In addition to this, IOM evaluates interns who may eventually be included on the roster for future external vacancies.

Interns tend to be students approaching the end of their programme or recent graduates between 19 and 36 years of age. Internships can last from 8 weeks to a maximum of 6 months.

Internships are as point of departure voluntary, non-remunerated assignments. IOM will however grant to interns a Monthly Sustenance Allowance (MSA) as partial contribution to accommodation and living expenses if the incumbent is not in receipt of a stipend from their university or other sources. In Denmark this means that students who receive the state study grant SU ("Statens Uddannelsesstøtte") will not be eligible to receive MSA from IOM during an internship with IOM Denmark.

Openings for internships at IOM Copenhagen may be advertised on the vacancies section of this website.

If you are interested in interning with IOM Denmark, you are also welcome to submit an unsolicited application with your cv to IOM Denmark. We may then process your application directly or contact you when there is an opening for an internship.
